Who is this training for?
This training is for individuals with lived experience who are passionate about supporting peers, parents, strengthening families and who are interested in becoming Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialists through Parents Anonymous® Inc.

What does the training include?
We offer a full-service training experience designed to support you every step of the way.

When you join, you’ll receive:

The official 80-hour training program as approved by the State of California and CalMHSA.
Vouchers to cover the cost of state certification exams.
Support from the Peer Workforce Development Team to help you explore employment opportunities.
An in-house internship to practice your skills and gain hands-on experience for your résumé.

Orientation

What is the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Training orientation? The orientation provides an overview of Parents Anonymous® Inc., the Peer Workforce Development program, expectations for participants, and next steps for enrollment. Who should attend this orientation? This orientation is for individuals interested in becoming a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist and enrolling in the Peer Workforce Development Program. Is this orientation required before enrolling in the training? Yes. Attendance at the orientation is required before you are considered fully registered for the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Training. Is the orientation in-person or virtual? The orientation will be held virtually via Zoom. How long is the orientation? The orientation lasts approximately 60–90 minutes. Will I need to keep my camera on if virtual? Camera use is encouraged to support connection but not required. Is there a cost to attend the orientation? No. The orientation is free. What happens after I register on Eventbrite? You will receive a confirmation email with orientation details and access information closer to the event date. What if I register but can’t attend? Please cancel your registration on Eventbrite or notify us as soon as possible so we can offer the spot to someone else. How do I attend orientation? You can schedule your orientation here.

Peer Support Network

What is Peer Support Network (PSN)?
The Peer Support Network (PSN) is a workshop-based continuing education that focuses on strengthening knowledge and skills related to the 17 core competencies as defined by CalMHSA. This 6-month internship supports skills promoting professional development in recovery, resilience, and community well-being. Peers will have the opportunity to earn 6 advanced certificates and earn stipends for completed modules as well as networking with other peers to develop a community. PSN emphasizes the value of lived experience, mutual support, and empowerment as core principles of effective peer services.

Who is eligible to participate in the PSN sessions?
Peers who are currently in Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist training or have recently completed the training through Parents Anonymous® Inc. are eligible to attend.

Where can I attend?
PSN sessions are completely virtual held weekly at 9am and 5pm on Zoom.

What is the cost to participate?
PSN sessions are offered for free for Peers that completed their training through Parents Anonymous® Inc.

Career placement services may include job readiness support, referrals to employment opportunities, connections to partner organizations, assistance with applications, interview preparation, and guidance on navigating hiring processes. These services aim to help participants secure employment aligned with their skills, goals, and program eligibility. What is included in career placement services? Career coaching is offered virtually only. All sessions are conducted online to ensure accessibility, flexibility, and consistency across participants and locations. You can book a session here. Can I receive coaching if I am already employed? Yes. Individuals who are currently employed may receive career coaching if they are currently enrolled in the training program or have successfully completed the training. Coaching services support career advancement, skill development, and long-term career planning. Will you help me create a personalized job search plan? Yes. Career coaches work with participants to develop a personalized job search plan based on individual goals, strengths, experience, and employment barriers. Plans may include timelines, target roles, and recommended next steps. Do you assist with online applications and job portals? Yes. Participants may receive assistance with navigating online job applications, creating accounts on job portals, uploading documents, and understanding application requirements.

How do I receive my voucher codes?
To receive your voucher codes, book a CalMHSA registration appointment with one of our team members and we will walk you through the process step by step.

Will I be reimbursed if I provide payment for the exam myself?
There are no reimbursements if you opt to cover the cost of the exam and application yourself. to avoid costs, ensure you have filled out our scholarship form.
